Upgrading to JRun 4 lets you take advantage of the many additions to JRun, including the new features and full capabilities of the most recent Sun J2EE 1.3 platform specifications. For information about how JRun 4 differs from earlier versions, see "Notable changes in JRun 4," in Chapter�4.
By default, the JRun 3.1 installation script installs JRun in C:\Program�Files\Allaire\JRun (Windows) and /opt/jrun (UNIX). The default location for installing JRun 4 is C:\JRun4 (Windows) and /opt/jrun4 (UNIX). You can run both versions concurrently if you install them in their default locations (Windows) or you must do one of the following:
By default, JRun 4 installation dynamically assigns web server port numbers that are not in use. When you add JRun servers, review the existing port settings and ensure that you assign unused ports. For more information on understanding JRun ports, see the JRun Administrator's Guide.
JRun 4 includes a migration tool that assists you in migrating JRun 3.1 servers to JRun 4. The migration tool updates the server properties files, web application files and settings, port settings, and EJBs to JRun 4.

If you installed JRun 4, and want to modify, repair, or remove the program, use the following procedure.
The Welcome window appears.
The Program Maintenance window appears.
Select one the following options:
sh Uninstall_JRun_4
To run multiple JRun 4 versions on the same system or back up your JRun 4 installation while testing a newer version, use the following procedure (Windows only).
The JRun4 Install Wizard window appears:
The Program Maintenance window appears:
Note: This will not remove JRun 4 from the renamed directory.
