| Learning ActionScript 2.0 in Flash > Understanding Security | |||
In Macromedia Flash Basic 8 and Macromedia Flash Professional 8, you can use ActionScript to load data from external sources into a SWF file or send data to a server. When you load data into a SWF file, you need to understand and accommodate the Flash 8 security model. When you open a SWF file on your hard disk, you might need to make special configurations so you can test your file locally.
For information on local file security, see About local file security and Flash Player. For information on the changes between the Flash Player 7 and Flash Player 8 security model, see About compatibility with previous Flash Player security models. For information on how to load and parse data from a server, read Working with External Data. For more information on security, see www.macromedia.com/devnet/security and www.macromedia.com/software/flashplayer/security/.
